Shopping centre EV charging

Give EV drivers a reason to choose your centre, and a reason to stay while their car charges.

The challenge

What retail & shopping centres need to get right

  • Picking the right mix

Too much DC is expensive; too little charging speed frustrates shoppers on short visits.

  • Public sites need reliability

A broken charger in a busy car park does more harm than no charger at all.

  • Bays get blocked

Without signage and rules, charging bays fill with cars that aren't charging.

Why centres are adding EV charging

EV drivers plan their stops around chargers they can rely on. A centre with working chargers in good positions can become a regular stop, and drivers tend to shop or eat while they wait.

Planning the right chargers

A site assessment looks at your supply, parking layout, trenching routes and where chargers would be most visible. Most centres begin with commercial AC chargers and add DC fast chargers at entrances or near quick-service tenants.

Installation, payments and support

Our registered electricians handle the installation, including civil work coordination, and certify each circuit. We set up payments, pricing and access, then keep chargers available with maintenance and support.

Our approach

Chargers matched to how long shoppers stay

We look at average visit length, parking layout and spare supply. Most centres start with dual-socket AC chargers in prominent bays and add DC where quick stops are common. Payments, signage and monitoring are part of the plan, not an afterthought.

Our process

How it works

One team from first enquiry to a working, certified charger. You always know what happens next.

  1. 1

    Enquiry

Tell us about your property, your vehicles and what you want to achieve. Photos of your DB board help.

  2. 2

    Site assessment

We check your supply, available load, cable route and mounting position, on site or from photos.

  3. 3

    Quote

A written, itemised quote: charger, installation, any upgrades and the CoC. No surprises later.

  4. 4

    Installation

Registered electricians install a dedicated, protected circuit and mount the charger neatly.

  5. 5

    Commissioning & handover

We configure the charger, test it with you, hand over the CoC and show you how to use it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still unsure? Speak with StrataCharge by phone, WhatsApp or email.

AC or DC chargers for a shopping centre?

Both have a place. AC suits longer visits like grocery shopping or the cinema. DC suits quick stops and travellers. Most centres start with AC and add DC as demand grows.

Can we charge customers for charging?

Yes. Chargers can take payment per kWh or per session through an app or card. Free charging for loyalty members is also possible.

Where should chargers go in the car park?

Somewhere visible and convenient, but also close enough to supply to keep cabling costs reasonable. The site assessment balances both.

What happens if a charger stops working?

With a maintenance plan and remote monitoring where supported, we're alerted to many faults and can respond according to your service level.
