EV charger site assessment

We look at your supply, DB board and parking before we quote, so the price you accept is the price you pay.

Why we assess before we quote

Two houses on the same street can need very different installations. One has a modern DB board in the garage, two metres from the parking spot. The other has a full board in the kitchen and a 25-metre run across a paved driveway. A quote given without looking would be wrong for one of them.

A site assessment removes the guesswork. It is also where we check whether a home EV charger on a single-phase supply will meet your needs, or whether load management or a supply upgrade is worth considering.

What we look at on shared sites

Complexes, office parks and fleet depots need a wider view. We assess the main supply and spare capacity, the route from the main board to the parking area, and how the site might grow. For body corporates, the assessment produces the drawings and cost information trustees need to make a decision. Read more about charging in apartments and complexes.

What happens next

You receive an itemised quote that lists what is included, what is quoted separately and how long the work will take. If you accept, we move on to charger supply and book your installation date. You can request a quote to get started.

Our process

How it works

One team from first enquiry to a working, certified charger. You always know what happens next.

  1. 1

    Enquiry

Tell us about your property, your vehicles and what you want to achieve. Photos of your DB board help.

  2. 2

    Site assessment

We check your supply, available load, cable route and mounting position, on site or from photos.

  3. 3

    Quote

A written, itemised quote: charger, installation, any upgrades and the CoC. No surprises later.

  4. 4

    Installation

Registered electricians install a dedicated, protected circuit and mount the charger neatly.

  5. 5

    Commissioning & handover

We configure the charger, test it with you, hand over the CoC and show you how to use it.

Load assessment first

We measure what your property already uses, then work out how much capacity is left for charging. For homes on a single-phase supply this tells us whether load management is needed; for complexes and office parks it sets how many bays can charge at once.

Remote or on site

Many home installs can be assessed from photos and a short video call. Larger and shared sites always get an on-site visit, so we can walk the cable route through the parkade and see the main switchroom.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still unsure? Speak with StrataCharge by phone, WhatsApp or email.

Is there a fee for the site assessment?

Remote assessments for homes are [free]. On-site assessments are [R X,XXX incl. VAT], [deducted from your installation if you go ahead].

How long does an on-site assessment take?

About [45 minutes] for a house and [1–3 hours] for a complex or commercial site, depending on its size.

Do I need to be home?

Someone needs to give us access to the DB board, parking area and, for shared sites, the main switchroom. For complexes we meet the managing agent or a trustee.

What if my DB board needs an upgrade?

We tell you during the assessment and price it separately in the quote, so you can decide before any work starts.

Will you tell me if three-phase is worth it?

Yes. We compare what your car can accept with what your supply can deliver, and only recommend an upgrade when it makes a real difference.
