EV charger commissioning

Installed is not the same as ready. We configure, test and hand over a charger that works the way you need it to.

Why commissioning matters

A charger that is wired correctly but configured badly causes problems: tripped breakers when everyone plugs in at 6 pm, residents unable to start a session, or charging costs that can’t be recovered. Commissioning is the step that prevents those headaches. It is where your commercial EV chargers or home wallbox are set up for the way you will actually use them.

OCPP, apps and access control

Home users mostly need the app working, a schedule for off-peak charging and current limits that suit the supply. Shared sites need more: each charger linked to the platform, user groups for residents, staff, visitors or fleet vehicles, and tariffs that match the body corporate’s or employer’s policy. We set all of this up and test it with real sessions. See EV charging for apartments and complexes for how billing usually works in sectional title schemes.

Load balancing you can rely on

Where several chargers share a supply, we configure dynamic load management and test it under load. This is what lets several bays charge from a supply that could not run them all at full power at once. Once you are up and running, maintenance and support keeps things that way.

Our process

How it works

One team from first enquiry to a working, certified charger. You always know what happens next.

  1. 1

    Enquiry

Tell us about your property, your vehicles and what you want to achieve. Photos of your DB board help.

  2. 2

    Site assessment

We check your supply, available load, cable route and mounting position, on site or from photos.

  3. 3

    Quote

A written, itemised quote: charger, installation, any upgrades and the CoC. No surprises later.

  4. 4

    Installation

Registered electricians install a dedicated, protected circuit and mount the charger neatly.

  5. 5

    Commissioning & handover

We configure the charger, test it with you, hand over the CoC and show you how to use it.

Home chargers set up on your phone

We connect the charger to your Wi-Fi, pair it with your app and set a charging schedule if you want one. Before we leave, you start a session yourself so you know exactly how it works.

Shared sites ready for users

For complexes, workplaces and fleets, we connect each charger to the management platform, create user groups and RFID cards, set tariffs and test cost reporting. The site manager gets a walkthrough of the dashboard.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still unsure? Speak with StrataCharge by phone, WhatsApp or email.

What is OCPP setup?

It is the process of connecting a charger to a management platform using the Open Charge Point Protocol. Once connected, the platform can authorise users, record sessions and send updates to the charger.

Which management platform should we use?

It depends on how you want to bill and report. We can connect to [Platform] or [Platform], or to a platform you already use if it supports OCPP.

What happens if the charger loses its internet connection?

Most chargers keep charging and store session data locally, then upload it when the connection returns. We configure an offline fallback that suits your site.

How is load balancing set up?

We use the figures from the load assessment to set a maximum for the charging group, then test that the chargers reduce power when the building's demand rises.

Is commissioning included in the installation price?

Basic commissioning for home chargers is included. Platform set-up for shared and commercial sites is quoted with the project.
